Mortimers Cross 1.1 miles. A charming, detached, Grade II listed Black and White cottage, situated in the village of Lucton, close to Yarpole and Mortimers Cross, in Herefordshire. Mentioned in the Domesday Book, the lovely village of Yarpole is steeped in history and boasts a fine selection of shops selling delicious cheeses, and The Bell Inn, a family pub with a roaring fire serving food and good ales. For those who enjoy walking and cycling, the area surrounding Yarpole offers many excellent routes, taking in superb views of the rolling countryside and dotted with traditional pubs. For a great day out, visit one the interesting National Trust properties close by, including Croft Castle and Berrington Hall, whilst there are many unspoilt villages within driving distance along the Black and White Village Trail, not to mention Leominster, Ludlow and the delightful Shropshire Hills.
