Plasybangor, Newport, Pembrokeshire

Pembrokeshire Coast. Sleeps up to 6

Resting on the edge of the majestic Preseli Hills in the Pembrokeshire National Park and near the glorious Pembrokeshire coastline, is this cleverly extended traditional Welsh cottage. The perfect location for walkers and those who enjoy wildlife and the countryside setting. The bright and spacious accommodation is approached via charming country lanes and down a track shared with our nice neighbours, walkers and horse riders. You will find Plasybangor surrounded by its own land and set in a beautiful river valley (a designated site of special scientific interest). This tranquil spot offers a superb base for family or groups seeking a rural escape. Visitors are welcome to explore the fields around the cottage which provides a haven for wildlife. A good range of reference and guide books, maps and local walk books are provided at the cottage to help you enjoy the unspoiled surroundings. Why not leave your car behind for the day, and follow the bridal path up the valley to Brynberian. From here cross the road and you are free to wander for miles over the gently rolling Preseli Hills. Don’t miss the spectacular rocky outcrop of Carn Goedog, now believed to be the source of the Stonehenge blue stones. A 10 minute stroll down the valley brings you to the ford and Craig Rhos Y Felin, recently identified as the source of the Stonehenge Rhyolite Stones. Carry on down the valley until the stream flows into the Nevern River. Turn up the hill to the magical ancient oak woodland of Tycanol and to the burial chamber Pentre Ifan, considered to be the best example of Neolithic dolmen in all of Great Britain, from here a short walk back across the fields will complete the circuit. Internally, the property enjoys all the essentials for a week-long break, as well as a clever blend of contemporary and traditional furnishings which are complemented by the enchanting surroundings. Look forward to relaxing into your evening within the open-plan living room, where you are welcomed in by the wood burning stove which offers comfort during the chilly winter months. The kitchen is complete with all the quality appliances you could possibly need to cater for yourself and the dining table is perfect for planning the day's ahead whilst you tuck into your home-cooked meal. After dinner, curl up on the comfortable sofa and tune into the TV or admire the views from the patio doors of the Preseli Hills. As the evening draws to a close, you will find three well-presented bedrooms to choose from, comprising of a super-king-size bedroom, a king-size bedroom and a twin bedroom, each benefiting by their own outdoor sitting areas, where views can be enjoyed each morning with a refreshing cup of coffee. The surrounding fields are there for guests to enjoy, also with footpaths from the doorstep you wont find a better location for those who enjoy walking. If you can tear yourself away from this superb location, venture to the nearby town of Newport, where you will be delighted to find a selection of shops and eateries to explore, as well as the boat club and the golf club with views over the coast. For those feeling active, explore miles of the famous Pembrokeshire Coast Path, where you will be delighted by the spectacular scenery, whilst the Preseli Mountains enjoys a rugged countryside setting. Alternatively, soak up the sun at one of the glorious beaches or brush up on the local history by discovering the wonderful Castell Henllys Iron Age Fort. Plasybangor is a superb base for exploring this corner of West Wales.
