Golspie, Highland

8

Located in the picturesque village of Golspie in the Highland region of Scotland, this historic detached station house offers an ideal retreat for families and railway enthusiasts alike. Accommodating up to eight guests, the property is perfectly positioned for exploring the stunning Northern Highlands and is conveniently situated near the coast. With a nearby pub and a beautiful sandy beach just 300 yards away, visitors can enjoy both relaxation and local amenities during their stay.

The Station House, built in 1868 and designed by architect William Fowler for the 2nd Duke of Sutherland, has been thoughtfully converted into a four-bedroom home while preserving its original charm. Key features include a distinctive round window that once housed the station clock, a spacious living room with a large open fireplace, and high ceilings that enhance the airy atmosphere. The ground floor includes a modern kitchen equipped with essential appliances, a utility room, and a bedroom with an en-suite shower room, originally the waiting room of the station.

Ascending the polished wooden staircase, guests will find three additional double bedrooms on the first floor, one with en-suite facilities, as well as a family bathroom. The property retains many of its historic elements, including original wooden doors and direct access to the station platform. Visitors should note that the house is located on a working railway line, with limited train services running throughout the day, providing a unique opportunity to travel to nearby attractions such as Dunrobin Castle.

Golspie is situated along the famous North Coast 500 route, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes. The town offers a variety of shops, pubs, and restaurants within walking distance, along with recreational activities such as sea and loch fishing, kayaking, and mountain biking. For golf enthusiasts, the area boasts several renowned courses, including the Royal Dornoch Championship Course. With its blend of history, modern comforts, and access to nature, the Station House serves as an exceptional base for exploring the rich offerings of the Scottish Highlands.
