Egton Bridge is steeped in history, with the local station, opened in 1865, designed by renowned architect Thomas Prosser. The station's design closely resembles that of Goathland station, famous for its appearances in various film and television productions, including the beloved series Heartbeat. The connection to Heartbeat is particularly significant as Egton station was once the childhood home of Rhoda Walker, wife of the show's author. Today, the station has been lovingly restored and offers authentic holiday accommodation, making it a perfect base for those looking to explore this beautiful part of England while enjoying the charm of a bygone era.
