Historic Manor House With Full Size Snooker Table Surrounded By Mature Gardens.

Whalton, Northumberland

6

Whalton, located in Northumberland, North of England, offers an alluring holiday property that comfortably accommodates up to six guests. This self-contained East Wing of the historic Manor House is adorned with exquisite 18th-century oak panelling and fine plaster ceilings, showcasing its rich period features. The Manor House is set within a magnificent three-acre garden, originally designed by the renowned landscape architects Gertrude Jekyll and Edwin Lutyens, known for its stunning planting and celebrated reputation.

The property is ideally situated in the picturesque village of Whalton, providing convenient access to notable attractions such as Hadrian's Wall and the beautiful Northumberland coast. The long, golden beaches of Druridge Bay are just a 30-minute drive away, while the enchanting Alnwick Gardens and the historic Roman forts of Vindolanda and Housesteads can be reached in under 45 minutes. The village itself features a local pub, and larger towns like Morpeth (5 miles away) and Newcastle-upon-Tyne (17 miles away) are within easy reach, as well as Newcastle Airport located just 10 miles from the property.

Inside, the ground floor boasts a spacious, oak-panelled sitting room with an open fire, leading to a room equipped with a full-size snooker table, which is restricted for use by children under twelve. The kitchen, also oak-panelled, includes island units and connects to a dining area. The first floor features a large double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, a second double bedroom, a twin bedroom, and a bathroom, although it is important to note that there are no shower facilities available.

The expansive garden surrounding the East Wing is shared with the property owner, but its size and layout provide a degree of privacy for both parties. While the garden is occasionally open to the public or for private tours, guests will be informed in advance. The garden is managed with a focus on promoting local insect and bird populations, adhering to a strict zero-herbicide, pesticide, and artificial fertiliser policy. This may result in a more natural appearance with wildflowers and weeds, but many guests appreciate the ecological benefits. Please note that pets are not permitted in this vacation home.
