The interior of Squirrel Cottage is designed for comfort and convenience, featuring a cozy living room equipped with a wood burner, a television with a video and VHS library, and a DVD player. The kitchen and dining area is well-appointed with modern appliances, including an electric cooker and microwave, while a utility room houses a fridge/freezer and washing machine. The cottage includes two bedrooms—a double bed in the first and twin beds in the second, along with a separate chair bed, making it ideal for families or small groups. The bathroom is fitted with a shower over the bath and a toilet, ensuring all essential amenities are covered.

Guests can enjoy a spacious one-acre garden, complete with garden furniture and a BBQ for outdoor dining, while the first basket of logs for the wood burner is provided free of charge. The property also offers lockable storage for bikes and outdoor equipment, private parking for up to four cars, and a natural water supply from a spring. For families traveling with young children, a travel cot and high chair are available, although supervision is advised due to a small burn on the grounds that is fenced and gated.

The surrounding area is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, with frequent sightings of red squirrels, deer, and various bird species adding to the cottage's charm. For fishing enthusiasts, daily and weekly permits can be arranged through the Estate Manager for access to the 5½ mile stretch of the Palnure Burn.
