Manteg

Aberaeron, Ceredigion

4

The charming Grade 2 listed cottage, known as Manteg, is nestled in a tranquil setting at the mouth of the river Arth in Aberarth, near Aberaeron, Ceredigion. This delightful two-bedroom retreat accommodates up to four guests, making it an ideal choice for a peaceful getaway. The cottage features a warm and inviting atmosphere, complete with an open fire, perfect for cozy evenings. Aberarth itself is a picturesque village characterized by its winding river, quaint narrow streets, and beautiful old cottages, all contributing to its serene charm.

In addition to its scenic beauty, Aberarth boasts a shingle beach where surfers are often spotted, and offers stunning views across Cardigan Bay towards the distant Snowdonia mountains. Guests may even be fortunate enough to catch sight of dolphins frolicking in the waters. The area is known for its breathtaking sunsets and clear starry nights, providing excellent opportunities for stargazing and spotting shooting stars, thanks to the minimal light pollution in the region.

Just a mile and a half south lies the vibrant harbour town of Aberaeron, which is renowned for its fantastic dining options. Visitors can enjoy local delicacies, including the famous honey ice creams from The Hives or traditional fish and chips while sitting along the colorful harbour. For those looking to explore further, the historic town of Aberystwyth and the Cambrian Mountains to the north, as well as the sandy beaches and fishing villages of Cardigan Bay to the south, such as New Quay and Llangrannog, are all within easy reach.

The accommodation at Manteg includes two comfortable double bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen/living area with modern appliances, and a cozy sitting/dining area that opens to a large tiered garden with sea views. The garden features two small patios with outdoor furniture, perfect for relaxation. A private path leads to Aberarth beach, although it requires careful navigation due to its narrow and uneven nature, particularly at high tide. For convenience, the cottage also offers off-road parking for up to two cars, making it a perfect base for enjoying the surrounding natural beauty and outdoor activities such as walking, cycling, and fishing.
