This self-contained, converted farm building is set over two floors and lies on a working sheep and horse farm. It is located at the start of the North Downs Way and on the bridleway network, making it a good choice for walkers. The cosy cottage is also a good base for couples.
Ideal for keen ramblers, this cosy cottage apartment has walks direct from the door, with miles of walks as far as Waverley Abbey, which is England’s first Cisterian abbey where you can see the ruins. There are over 7000 acres of common land within 10 minutes’ drive, including Thursley Common National Nature Reserve, Elstead and Royal Commons, the famous Devils Punch Bowl at the Hindhead common -the first common to be owned by the National Trust and Alice Holt Forest.
Close by is The Packhouse, an antiques emporium set on various floors and with a café/bistro. There are two good pubs serving food, about 10 minutes’ walk and Farnham station is also walking distance. The owners also offer collection from the station for guests or even from the airport for overseas visitors, and they will also order in food by prior arrangement.
Nearby are Hogs Back Brewery Tours, Loseley House and Gardens, Watts Gallery, Rural Life Centre and Birdworld. Farnham town centre, about 1½ miles distant, has a host of shops, cafés and The Maltings, which is a cultural organisation with theatre and dance productions, pottery, art textiles and photography. Slightly further is Jane Austen’s House at Chawton, Gilbert White Musem at Selborne, Chichester Cathedral, Fontwell or Goodwood, Petworth House, Portsmouth with ferry trips to the Isle of Wight and Spinnaker Tower, retail shopping and Gunwharf Quays. Many guests visit the Watercress Steam Railway which stops at nearby Alresford, a delightful nostalgic trip back in time. Other places to visit include The Science Centre at Winchester, Marwell Zoo and the Queen Elizabeth Country Park at Horndean. Beach 40 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
