Old Barn lies within 2 miles of Rutland Water where there is always plenty to see and do including walking, bird and wildlife watching at Rutland Osprey Project at Lyndon Nature Reserve and Rutland Water Nature Reserve in Egleton. Other activities include fishing, water sports including sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and boat trips, cycling, crazy golf, sporting events and even a beach during the summer months. The market towns of Uppingham, Oakham and Stamford are close by and full of independent shops, galleries, cafés, pubs and restaurants. Oakham boasts regular markets including a monthly farmers’ market where you can find delicious local produce. Railway stations at Oakham and Stamford are close by and have connections to the Midlands and Peterborough. Other places of interest within a short driving distance are Barnsdale Gardens, Burghley House and Rockingham Castle, as well as the larger towns and cities of Leicester and Market Harborough.
