Set on the beach-fringed Machars Peninsula, this is a wonderful location on a small working farm and is just 10 miles from Newton Stewart.. Ground Floor:
Kitchen/dining area: With electric oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine.
Bedoom: With twin beds.
Shower room: With shower cubicle and toilet.

Living room: With electric fire, Freeview TV, DVD player and double futon bed.. Electric storage heaters, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot, highchair and stairgate available on request. Welcome pack. Use of owners’ tumble dryer.. Lawned garden with sitting-out area and garden furniture. 1 dog welcome, to be ket on a lead at all times (working sheep farm). Bike store. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.. Set amid rolling farmland with spectacular views of the Galloway Hills and Wigtown Bay Estuary, The Granary is delightful cottage. To make the most of the stunning views the living room is on the first floor, where you can sit and relax and be disturbed by nothing more than the sheep in the field! The Granary is situated on the owner’s small working farm, with sheep, hens and Shetland ponies. Guests are very welcome to meet the animals when the owners are there, but are asked not to go into the fields unaccompanied or to feed the animals. When the weather is fine, just relax in the private garden, making the most of the views.
There is a wealth of things to do while you are here. The Granary is ideally placed to explore everything that this delightful corner of south west Scotland has to offer, known as ‘The Machars’. Visit Wigtown, officially designated as Scotland’s ‘National Book Town’, which has a wide range of book-related businesses, a book lovers haven! The larger town of Newton Stewart, known as ‘the Gateway to the Galloway Hills’, also has many excellent shops and places where you can eat. With the Galloway Forest and Dark Skies Park close by, The Granary is ideally placed to enjoy your stay, whether you just wish to relax or enjoy an action packed adventure. Enjoy the rugged coastlines and secluded sandy beaches which benefit from the warmth of the passing Gulf Stream. There are many beautiful gardens to explore, including the world renowned Logan Botanical Gardens. The area boasts many pretty little ports like Sandhead, Portpatrick and the RSPB Scotland Mull of Galloway Nature Reserve where thousands of seabirds nest on the cliff face during spring and summer.
This location is perfect for walkers, golfers and cyclists and also very convenient for the ferry terminal to Northern Ireland. This area has numerous historical and ancient sites to visit, administered by Scottish Heritage and the National Trust for Scotland. Walkers and cyclists will find plenty to occupy them in the Galloway Hills, and there are coastal walks and forests walks, including those in the Galloway Forest Park with several visitor centres also to be found. A number of quiet sandy beaches are also just a short drive away. There are swimming pools and leisure centres in Stranraer and Newton Stewart, whilst the Cream o’ Galloway visitor attraction is great for families with children. Beach 5 miles. Shop and pub 2 miles, restaurant 3 miles.
