Large, enclosed, lawned garden with patio, decked area and garden furniture. 2 dogs welcome, to be kept on a lead at all times (sheep country). Private parking for 3 cars. No smoking.. This spacious, single storey, detached holiday property is in the little village of Penybontfawr in the Tanat Valley, a short distance from the Shropshire border and is adjacent to, but entirely separate from, the owner’s quiet, family run, static caravan park. There’s a lovely large lawned garden in which to relax, whilst the property itself has shades of the Mediterranean with archways and attractive tiled flooring. There are three good sized bedrooms, one of which opens onto a private decked area overlooking the garden. The delightful Welsh speaking owners offer a warm welcome, and the village centre is only a two minute stroll away, with a lovely local pub serving delicious food, and a small shop and post office.
The Tanat Valley offers some great walks, and an unhurried way of life, where you can truly relax. Nearby is the famous Lake Vyrnwy with its huge Victorian dam, pretty waterfalls, RSPB bird hides and artisan cafés, the highest single drop waterfall in the UK is near Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant, and there are a number of country pubs serving real ales. Near the next village of Llangynog is tranquil Pennant Melangell church, well worth a visit, and the spectacular drive over the mountains brings you to Bala, which has Wales’ largest natural lake and the steam trains of the Bala Lake Railway running along the lake shore. To the south is Welshpool (also home to another of the ’Great Little Trains of Wales’), which has the restored canal as an added attraction, whilst over the border in Shropshire, the bustling and attractive market town of Oswestry has greater shopping opportunities. If you have adrenaline junkies in your party, no visit would be complete without a trip over to Blaenau Ffestiniog, 36 miles, to try out the world’s longest zip wire zone at Zip World, or the only trampoline nets and slide system you’ll find in an underground slate cavern at Bounce Below! Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant 300 yards.
