Set in the heart of Tynemouth and only 300 yards from King Edward’s Bay beach and the seafront, this quirky and deceptively spacious terraced cottage is perfect for that get away break for small families and couples. The fabulous location on a quiet side street in this pretty upmarket seaside town means you are within walking distance of Tynemouth Priory and Castle, which dates back centuries, as well as all the bars, bistros, cafés, and beaches. Longsands Beach has developed a national reputation as a surf destination and has staged national championships. Nearby the Blue Reef Aquarium, and Tynemouth Park with its Lost World Adventure Golf and pedalos on the boating lake, provide family entertainment and fun. Walks are a delight around this area with walks along the seafront and the mouth of the River Tyne, with fabulous views in all directions. The promenade takes you from Tynemouth to North Shields with its historic quayside and lively pubs and restaurants serving the local catch. Tynemouth Station is only a short walk away and a lovely place to meander at the weekends when it houses an indoor market full of interesting stalls and curios.
Tynemouth Station also houses Tynemouth Metro with its direct link to Newcastle upon Tyne, where you could explore this beautiful historic city perhaps taking in the quayside and the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art – the views are outstanding from the top floor. Trains to Edinburgh and York depart from Newcastle Central Station. There is easy access from the cottage by car to the Northumberland coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty including Bamburgh, Holy Island, and to Hadrian’s Wall, a World Heritage Site that is well worth a visit. Beach 300 yards. Shops, pubs and restaurants 200 yards.
