This traditional thatched cottage is a great base for exploring the Jurassic coast, sandy beaches, woodland walks, cycle routes, historic places and vibrant seaside towns.. Ground Floor:
Living/dining room: With wood burner, Sky Q TV (basic package), double sofa bed (for flexible sleeping arrangements) and low beams.
Kitchen: With electric oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.
Bathroom: With shower over bath, and toilet.
First Floor:
Low ceilings throughout.
Bedroom 1: With kingsize bed.
Bedroom 2: With twin beds.. Electric storage heaters, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Initial logs for wood burner included, remainder at £5 per basket. Travel cot, highchair and stairgate available on request. Welcome pack. Large lawned garden with sitting-out area, garden furniture, gas barbecue and summerhouse. Bike store. This Grade II listed, detached, quintessential thatched cottage was once the village blacksmiths and is situated on the edge of the pretty village of Moreton. Tucked away in a secluded setting, down a private track, its ambience, location and adaptability make it a perfect retreat for couples, families, and romantic breaks. Its cosy interior has been refurbished and the living room has a flatscreen TV and an inglenook with a feature wood burner. The two bedrooms on the first floor both have ample hanging space and drawers. The cottage’s quiet, peaceful location and large garden make it a perfect haven for rest, play and pets. Just 7 miles from the historic Dorset county town of Dorchester, 7 miles from the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast, and the famous Durdle Door. Moreton is a small village, but does have its own train station, which is on the main Weymouth to London Waterloo line, great if you want to explore more of Dorset by rail, including Weymouth, Dorchester, Poole and Bournemouth.
Moreton’s highlights include St Nicholas’ Church and its unique etched glass windows, engraved by the late Sir Laurence Whistler. Moreton Cemetery, the last resting place of T E Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) who once lived nearby at Clouds Hill, is now a National Trust delight. Just a short distance south from Honeysuckle Cottage you will find two Dorset Wildlife Trusts - Tadnoll and Winfrith Heath. Moreton Forest, the Jubilee Trail, Lawrence of Arabia Trail and the Lawrence Cycle Ride all pass through the village, offering stunning rides and riverside walks. There is also an award-winning café, renowned for its fantastic cream teas. Another café and walled garden offers a lovely Victorian walled garden, large children’s play area, petting corner and plant shop. On the outskirts of Dorchester is Maxgate and Thomas Hardy’s Cottage, both National Trust. Historic Dorchester is home to Brewery Square and the pioneering architectural royal development of Poundbury. Visit Weymouth, with its award-winning golden sandy beach and Georgian harbour front, and be sure to visit the Isle of Portland, home to the sailing events and a water sports venue at the 2012 London Olympics. Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove, with their famous natural arch and rock formations, should not be missed. Perhaps enjoy a day out at the popular Monkey World and Bovington Tank Museum, or a trip by stream train from Corfe Castle to Swanage Bay, which great attractions for visitors of all ages.
