Peacefully nestled in the quiet Northumbrian village of Wall, this traditional, detached, stone cottage has all of the home comforts that you can expect and a location that is great for exploring the local area. Also the ideal holiday home for small families, Church Cottage is somewhere that can be visited all year round. Warm and cosy with exposed beams, original stone walls and a wood burner, guests will find a great welcome at any time of year. On the ground floor is a spacious living room with ample comfortable seating and plenty of board games and DVDs to entertain the family. The dining room is separate to the living room and there is also a well-equipped kitchen with all modern appliances including a dishwasher, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. On the first floor are two double bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed, one with a zip and link super kingsize bed and plenty of traditional features. There is a small sitting-out area with a bench on the traditional patio and this makes for the perfect spot for parents to sit and relax whilst watching the children in the playing field opposite.
Only a short walk away from the local pub, guests will find a great community here and a welcoming atmosphere. Packed with history, the county of Northumberland is an ideal location for guests who enjoy a walking or a cycling holiday. Walkers must find the time to walk the ancient Military Road that leads the way to Hadrian’s Wall. The route along Hadrian’s Wall spans for over 80 miles and guests will be able to feel the significance of treading in footsteps that have been walked for hundreds of years. The scenery and landscape is stunning and there are plenty of opportunities to visit one of the Roman Forts and historic sites along the way. Also perfect for cyclists, there are numerous cycle paths and guided tours that can be taken all year round. Only a short drive from the historic market town of Hexham, guests wanting to enjoy a quiet romantic break at Church Cottage will find themselves with plenty of choice of restaurants, cafés and bistros all within a 10-minute drive. Hexham also boasts a fabulous abbey, Hexham Old Gaol, Forum Cinema and a traditional marketplace that is home to a regular market. The town is full of traditional character and as well many modern amenities and is also home to Hexham racecourse which is often referred to as the most scenic racecourse in Britain. A little further afield but still within easy driving distance, guests will be able to visit Newcastle upon Tyne, 30 minutes, Gateshead, 35 minutes, Kielder Water with its incredible dark skies, 50 minutes, Alnwick, 60 minutes and the stunning blue flag beaches of the Northumbrian Coastline. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
