This elegant stone-built, semi-detached, single-storey cottage is situated at Falstone Station. Along with the owner’s home it is one of only a few cottages at this location, which was once part of the former Border Counties Railway line. The line has long gone but reminders of the route that linked England with Scotland are still there. It is only 520 yards from the local pub serving real ale and good food. Opposite the pub is a small tea room/shop in this pretty village of Falstone. The cottage has one double and one twin bedroom and sleeps four people in an elegant style. The underfloor heating will keep you comfortable whatever the time of year. The décor is contemporary and comfortable with a kitchen area that has everything you’ll need to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing.
Railway Cuttings is situated inside the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park. Its lack of light pollution makes it one of the best areas in Britain to enjoy the sky at night. Use binoculars to marvel at the Milky Way; enjoy the Northern Lights or perhaps you’ll be lucky and glimpse a spectacular meteor shower. For those who want to make the most of their ’Dark Sky’ stay, a visit to the Kielder Observatory is a must but book ahead to guarantee a time that suits you best. One of the big attractions of holidaying in this area of rural Northumberland is the range of activities so close at hand. Its close proximity to Kielder Water makes it a must-visit for walkers, sailors and cyclists. Nearby Leaplish has a swimming pool and spa open to visitors, and the on-site pub and restaurant is handy for those wishing to make a day of it. And for those who just want to enjoy the countryside, its south facing views overlook the North Tyne river and the nearby rolling hills. The historic town of Hexham is only 25 miles and Bellingham has lots of useful amenities such as a bank, post office and shops, and is only 9 miles away. The Northumberland Heritage Coast makes a great day out and is within easy driving distance so you can experience all parts of this unspoilt, diverse county. Shop, pub and restaurant 520 yards.
Railway Cuttings can be booked together with The Left Luggage Office (ref CC325019), 10 yards away, to accommodate up to 6 guests.
