Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and Preseli MountainsOnly a short drive or bus ride from Pen yr Allt, you can enjoy magnificent and varied scenery - explore peaceful backwaters, ancient and mystical stone circles and mountains, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path with its glorious views, wonderful bird life, great wild flowers and waters that are home to whales, dolphins and porpoises. Historic Porthgain Fishing Village Porthgain is a small picturesque harbour which is well worth a visit. The Shed bistro/bar offers a good choice of seafood and excellent fish and chips. The Sloop Inn, one of the most famous pubs in Pembrokeshire, is a characterful pub serving excellent bar food. Also in the village is 2 art galleries showing the work of local artists,including John Knapp Fisher,whose gallery is 1 mile away . FishguardThis small market town has independent shops, tea and coffee houses, several pubs, a leisure centre with swimming pool and even a small cinema. Fishguard Farmers Market is held in the Town Hall every Saturday morning with lots of lovely local goodies to purchase. Also in the town hall is the 'Last Invasion of Britain Tapestry' -sewn by local needle workers to celebrate the centenary of this historic event. Lower Town Fishguard HarbourThis tiny quaint harbour is now mainly used by pleasure boats, but was once home to a thriving herring fishing fleet'The Ship Inn' is an historic pub serving 'real ale' - popular with locals and holiday makers alike - there are lots of photographs and memorabilia of days gone by and a warm and friendly welcome too!Goodwick and Parrog BeachParrog Beach at Goodwick is safe for most water sports, and the Ferry to Ireland leaves daily from the far side of the Bay where there is a main line railway station. There are riding stables just a mile away, golf (links courses) at Newport and St Davids, and tiny ancient churches along the Saints and Stones tour to explore. Gwaun ValleyThere are 57 acres of ancient woodland, SSSI, for you to discover and enjoy - no sight or sound of the 21st century! The pub in the valley is The Dyffryn Arms, - known locally as Bessie' s, a formidable lady who serves real ale from a jug. Pwll Gwaelod and Cwm yr EglwysPwll Gwaelod is a small,sandy west facing beach with fabulous views across Fishguard Bay and a pub/restaurant, The Old Sailors, serving freshly caught local fish.
