North Lodge is a delightful Victorian cottage on the edge of the Ormidale estate in Glendaruel. It sits in its own garden just off the road from Strachur to Tighnabruaich.
North Lodge sits in the middle of ‘Argyll’s Secret Coast’, an area of incredible natural beauty bordered by the beautiful waters of Loch Fyne and the Kyles of Bute. It is right on the Cowal Way, a long-distance path from Portavadie in the South to Inveruglas in the North, which was first devised by the previous owner of North Lodge. Also nearby are a number of golf courses, horse-riding, sailing, walking, numerous excellent pubs and restaurants and even a spa hotel!
The cottage has been completely refurbished in 2016, and comprises a sitting room with dining area, fully fitted kitchen, and two bedrooms (one King, one Twin, sleeping 4 in total) plus bathroom with shower. There is a travel cot for one infant. There is also central heating and a wood burning stove, together with BT Broadband (mobile phone reception is poor!)
Outside there is a garden (please note that this is not enclosed) with outdoor furniture and a trout stream flowing along the boundary, in addition to parking for up to three cars directly opposite the front door.
Located in Colintraive, this cottage is in the mountains and by the sea. Luckenbooth Gallery and Bute Museum are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Loch Lomond and Cowal Way - West and Kintyre Way. Traveling with kids? Consider Benmore Botanic Garden and Ardencraig Gardens. Sailing and fishing offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with horse riding and hiking/biking trails nearby.
