Within walking distance of a pub and restaurant, the house is not far from the village of Aboyne, which has shops and eateries, and in the summer has its own Highland Games – a feature throughout Deeside. Balmoral Castle is well worth a visit and in winter skiing at the Lecht or Glenshee are both easily accessed. Fishing, golf, hill walking, horse riding and even gliding at a nearby club.
