Located on a small holiday village, this lodge makes a good base for exploring a wide area of Wales, with on site facilities including an outdoor pool.. Ground Floor:

This cedar wood lodge is located within the small, family run holiday park of Penlan, where privately owned Scandinavian-style lodges are nestled in a wooded parkland setting. Humorously named Llareggub after the fictional village in Dylan Thomas’s drama ’Under Milk Wood’, the lodge is a great bolt-hole for exploring the area. The owner has a great interest in literature of all kinds, and there is a large variety of interesting books in the lodge as well as extras to make your holiday a comfortable one, such as outdoor games for children, a barbecue and details of all the things you can do in the area, including exploring the 325 acres of Ffynone and Cilgwyn woodlands nearby.

The park is surrounded by oak and beech trees, and is a haven for wildlife as well as providing a range of facilities especially suitable for families. There is an outdoor heated swimming pool, children’s playground, large playing field and picnic area, and a games room with pool tables and darts. Wi-Fi can also be accessed on-site. In season, the park runs regular themed entertainment nights and there is a bar and restaurant available on these nights too. A little shop (limited opening hours) supplies the basics, but you are only a mile from the lovely village of Cenarth, where you will find pubs, cafés and a shop too. A little further on is the attractive market town of Newcastle Emlyn, which has an array of shops, cafés and a supermarket.

The village of Cenarth is famous for its falls, where the River Teifi spills dramatically over the rocks and boulders. This is a fantastic place for fishing for salmon and trout, and if you are around in the autumn, you may catch the spectacular sight of the salmon leaping up the falls as they return to spawn upstream. The village has a lovely riverside walk and a fascinating museum in a 17th-century flour mill, showcasing its rich history of coracle making - the ancient fishing boat made from a basket frame covered in tar coated canvas. Cenarth is also the home of the renowned Caws Cenarth cheese, and you can watch it being made on the organic farm on the outskirts of the village; so do make sure you sample some!

You are ideally located here, having easy access to the three counties of Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion. The beautiful countryside is matched by the beauty of the coast, and you are less than 10 miles from the west Wales coastline and scenic Cardigan Bay. Here, there are beach walks to be had, dolphins to be spotted, and coastal towns and villages to be explored. Make sure you visit Cardigan town itself, a thriving market town 10 minutes away on the banks of the estuary. Stroll around the narrow streets, and visit the ancient castle ruins and exhibitions. There is a restaurant on a boat and one serving wood-fired pizzas in season. The well-known Pembrokeshire family attractions of Oakwood Theme Park and Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (with the only giraffes in Wales) are easily accessible for a family day out, as is the smallest city in Britain, St David’s, with its magnificent cathedral and Bishops Palace. If you just want to stay closer to home and enjoy the peace and tranquillity it’s all here for you, whether you like golf, walking, fishing or just relaxing. Come and see for yourself! Beach 9 miles.
