Surrounded by farmland and with stunning views, this property is great for people who enjoy walking and there are plenty of lovely spots within the grounds for a picnic or even to enjoy a spot of trout or salmon fishing on Swanside Beck. Horseshoe Cottage is located 2 miles from the village of Sawley which has a great dining pub situated alongside the River Ribble. There are some lovely walks around the remains of Sawley Abbey, a Cistercian abbey which dates back to the 12th century. Whilst Sawley falls within the borough of Lancashire’s Ribble Valley, it was historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire so is ideally placed for exploring both of these beautiful counties. The village of Gisburn is 2½ miles away and Gisburn Forest which has some great mountain biking trails, is approximately 10 miles away.

The Ribble Valley district is famous for its unspoilt countryside, pretty villages, quaint market towns and a wealth of superb dining pubs and restaurants. There are also lots of farm shops and tea rooms making this a real foodie destination. The popular market towns of Clitheroe is just 7 miles and Skipton 13 miles, both of which have their own castle and offer a good range of shops, bars and restaurants, making them well worth a visit. Other places nearby include Bolton Abbey which nestles on the banks of the River Wharf and boasts miles of stunning walks within the grounds, the Forest of Bowland which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Grassington with its quaint shops and cobbled streets and the cathedral city and spa town of Harrogate. Should you wish to venture further afield, Lancaster, the Lake District and the Fylde Coast which includes popular coastal towns such as Blackpool and Lytham St Annes, can all be reached in under an hour by car. Just over an hour’s drive will take you into York and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. With so much to see and do, Horseshoe Cottage really is the perfect choice for those wanting everything close by whilst enjoying the peace and relaxation of the countryside.
