The open plan living space is bright and airy, with patio doors leading to an enclosed patio, an ideal spot to dine alfresco. Both bedrooms are beautifully presented, and there is a good sized shower room too. Strand Cottage nestles behind St Aidan’s, which faces directly on to the rolling sand dunes fringing the sea. A wide array of amenities are available within 500 yards, including tea rooms, restaurants, pubs and shops. Boat trips to the Farne Islands run from the nearby harbour. The islands are famous for their nesting seabirds and grey seal colonies. Horse riding is available just a mile away, and there is an impressive golf course on the links close by.

The picture postcard village of Bamburgh, protected by its dramatic fortress, is just 2 miles north, with its wide expanse of golden, and often empty sandy beaches, and where the tidal island of Lindisfarne can also be viewed. A further 2 miles up the coast brings you to Waren Mill, which is steeped in history. Once an important port, its harbour has long since disappeared, silted up beneath the sands of the estuary. The bird sanctuary at Budle Bay has a vast expanse of mud flats at low tide, and is home to thousands of sea and land birds, making this location a haven for birdwatchers. The market town of Alnwick, with its castle and many facilities, can be reached within a few miles inland. Perhaps visit Alnwick Garden, a popular visitor attraction with its grand cascade waterfall and restaurant within the largest treehouse in Europe. Strand Cottage makes an excellent base from which to explore this Heritage coastline, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Beach 50 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.
