A delightful detached cottage in a small courtyard setting with two other properties, The Stables offers couples, small families and friends a peaceful retreat away from the crowds, but is within easy access of the Lakes and Dales. With an Aga taking pride of place in the kitchen (providing heat and for cooking, try the bottom oven for easy casseroles to come back to after a days walking!), the downstairs has a very much ‘cottagey’ feel and is a pretty, homely setting, perfect for two or three guests. Climb the stairs to the living room, a fabulous space open to the eaves with comfortable sofas, an antique refectory table and an easy to use, gas wood burner. A good sized garden is tucked away to the rear of the property, and the garage is available for bike storage.
Keen cyclists will enjoy the excellent routes direct from the door, whilst walkers will find The Dales Way and picturesque local walks for all abilities nearby. A short drive will take you into the popular, historic market town of Kendal, which is set on the River Kent and has independent retailers, cafés, restaurants and high street stores. Days out to much loved places include Sedbergh, Hawes, Bowness and Windermere, whilst Morecambe Bay and South Lakeland are also within easy reach. Shop and pub 2½ miles, restaurant 3 miles.
