Set in a sleepy hamlet of Thrupp, the Dovecote is the ideal romantic retreat for two. This pretty little detached property is situated in the grounds of a Manor House and lies adjacent to the 18th Century Oxford Canal, offering cozy and peaceful accommodation situated in a historic hamlet. Thrupp offers many relaxing walks along the canal towpath, or along the banks of the river Cherwell, which hosts an abundant of wildlife.
Thrupp has a public house called the Boat, with its open fires and beamed ceiling. Annie’s Tea Room, situated on the other side of the canal has a selection of homemade cakes and pastries to purchase.
A short walk or along the towpath or a short drive leads to the village of Kidlington, recognised as the largest village in England, has several supermarkets, post office, banks, chemists and various pubs and cafes. There is a regular bus service to Oxford from Kidlington along with a nearby Park and Ride service. There is a bus stop available on the main road, approximately 15 minutes’ walk from the cottage.
The M40 motorway is easily reached, connecting to either London or Birmingham within an hour, traffic dependent.
The property makes and ideal holiday base to visit the famous Oxford colleges or the historic market town of Woodstock home to Blenheim Palace. Or explore the Cotswolds and Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon. Shops 2 miles, pubs ¼ mile.
