Ivy Cottage is a welcoming semi-detached stone built holiday cottage, which was originally a weaver’s cottage. It was built by the owner’s great, great, great grandad in 1845, who weaved linen in the winter months and was a salmon fisher on the River Tay in the summer. The kitchen area was then the loom shed; the cottage has now been renovated to a good standard to provide spacious and comfortable accommodation. Situated in the picturesque conservation village of Abernethy, you can explore its historic tower and quaint lanes, and there are an abundance of quiet footpaths from your doorstep. There are leisure pursuits to suit all tastes, walking, cycling, fishing on the River Tay, shooting, whisky distilleries, palaces, castles and tourist attractions to visit, and just 10 miles from the centre of Perth, with an excellent selection of shops, restaurants, bars and beautiful parks, concert hall, cinema, galleries, museums and a race course. For mountain and off road cyclists, the forest at the back of Abernethy (Pitmedden Forest) is one of the best for off-road trails in Scotland, competitions are held during the summer. There are 20 golf courses within easy driving distance, Ladybank Championship course 11 miles, King James VI golf course in Perth 7 miles, Milnathort golf course 11 miles all of which visitors can use. Gleneagles with it championship courses, is only a 30-minute drive and the Old Course in St Andrews is only 40 minutes away. The TV series ’Outlander’ was also filmed only a few miles away from the property. This is the perfect location for all ages to enjoy this area and all it has to offer, and after a day exploring you can relax in the sunny garden with a glass of wine.
