This delightful semi-detached cottage is true to its name, Pen y Graig which translates ‘Head of the Rock’ is a quirky character filled cottage that enjoys an elevated situation in the village of Talysarn, in the slate quarrying and stunningly scenic Nantlle Valley, just on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. The cottage is accessed via a sloping pathway and 23 steps from the roadside, it’s a bit of a climb but you will be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding countryside making this lovely cottage a great base for a couple, two friends or a small family. The cottage, set next to the owners' home, has been successfully refurbished to a good standard throughout with a well-appointed interior and a very homely feel. The sitting room has exposed beams and is a wonderful place to relax and unwind after a busy day out and about exploring. It is ideally placed with patio doors and seating to enjoy those amazing views, benefitting from a southerly aspect, with natural light just flooding in. The cosy dining area provides an intimate atmosphere to enjoy a meal together, prepared in the well-equipped kitchen. Upstairs, two bedrooms are nicely appointed with the double bedroom enjoying some fantastic countryside views, making breakfast in bed a real treat. Both bedrooms are serviced by a well-appointed, modern shower room. Outside your lovely holiday cottage is a seating area which catches the sun all day long and provides wonderful views and at the rear there is a lovely garden area accessed by some steps with a further seating area, offering peace and quiet while you enjoy a glass of something chilled. The area surrounding Pen y Graig is a haven for walkers and wildlife lovers. The cottage is located close to the Dorothea Quarry where there are some wonderful walks and hidden lakes deep within, whilst the stunningly beautiful Llyn Nantlle Uchaf and Nantlle Valley are easily accessible too. Pant Du Vineyard and Orchard is less than a mile away and well worth a visit. Perhaps pick up a couple of bottles of Welsh wine to enjoy later. The beautiful Dinas Dinlle Blue Flag beach, offering a sloping shoreline, sand dunes and rock pools is just five miles away, and the historic, medieval walled town of Caernarfon, dominated by its majestic mediaeval castle and boasting an array of shops and restaurants, is only eight miles away. Alternatively, Llanberis, the starting points for many routes up Mount Snowdon, is also within easy reach, making sure you will be spoilt for choice for great days out. With the rugged beauty of Wales’s lush green hills, rocky peaks and sandy shores just waiting to be discovered, this sweet cottage provides relaxing holiday accommodation and offers a great base for a break away at any time of the year.
