Spire View, Pickering

North York Moors. Sleeps up to 2

Situated in a lovely position, overlooking the cobbled main street in Pickering, is this first floor apartment, set above a gift shop. With the famous steam railway just a two minute walk away, it is just the ticket for couples wanting to explore this popular market town, known as the Gateway to the North York Moors National Park. Two flights of Internal stairs lead up to the apartment, which is cosy and comfortable, with a compact kitchen with dining area and a separate sitting room, with views over the town to the church spire beyond. With off road parking for one car in the courtyard at the back, guests can safely leave their car behind and hop on the train that puffs its way through the heather-clad moors to Grosmont and Whitby. All amenities are at your fingertips, with quaint tea rooms, coffee shops, pubs, restaurants and independent shops at your disposal. Pickering has much to offer visitors, with its castle ruins, museums, bike hire and trout fishing ponds. With spectacular scenery on the doorstep and a wealth of stately homes and gardens to visit, including Duncombe Park, Nunnington Hall and Castle Howard, there is plenty to keep you busy. Take a trip to the nearby market town of Helmsley, visit the castle and be sure to take the two mile walk along the valley to the beautiful Rievaulx Abbey. With the east coast seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough within a half hour drive and the wonderful historic city of York an easy drive, you are well placed for an interesting and varied holiday.
