Middle Cottage, High Hauxley

Northumberland. Sleeps up to 3

This traditional, mid-terrace Northumberland cottage is located in the centre of the peaceful hamlet of High Hauxley, 1.5 miles south of the busy fishing port of Amble. Less than half a mile from the beach, Middle Cottage offers character and romantic charm and is an ideal base for a small family or a couple wishing to explore the Heritage Coastline. On the ground floor of this quaint cottage is a well-equipped kitchen, along with a spacious sitting room with a dining area and cosy woodburning stove for those chillier Northumberland nights. The staircase from the sitting room takes you to the first floor, with a bathroom and two cosy bedrooms, each with memory foam mattresses. The beach at Low Hauxley is just a couple of minutes' drive away, where the long golden sands stretch all the way around Druridge Bay, so whether you want to cycle, walk the dogs or simply relax by the sea, this is just the spot. There is a licensed restaurant halfway into Amble serving good food, or just a little further up the coast, Amble itself has a lovely assortment of shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways. Many small restaurants and eateries have popped up in Amble recently, so there is a wide choice on offer. A short drive from Middle Cottage takes you to the charming coastal villages of Warkworth and Alnmouth. Why not take a trip to Craster and sample a crab sandwich or two in The Jolly Fisherman, then take a leisurely stroll to Dunstanburgh Castle with its stunning backdrop of the North Sea? Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island and Cragside are all within easy reach. A safe, pet-friendly base for that perfect seaside break.
