The house is surrounded by fields where cows graze but you may also be able to spot the wild muntjac and roe deer, hares and foxes as well as egrets, heron and cormorants Located in Erlestoke, there are foot paths that can take you to the next villages of Great Cheverell and Edington as well as onto far longer walks across Salisbury Plain. These neighbouring villages have village/farm shops as well as public houses that serve highly rated food. For a wider range of shops and eateries, the market town of Devizes is 7 miles away and features an award-winning museum, over 500 listed buildings, the 29 locks of the Caen Hill flight on the Kennet and Avon canal, a wide range of independent shops as well as the Devizes Arts festival held in June. Within a 40 minute drive of the Cook House you can visit the World Heritage sites of Stonehenge and Avebury, experience the historic cities of Salisbury and Bath, Longleat Safari Park and a range of stunning National Trust properties such as Lacock
