Trigfa, Blaenau Ffestiniog

Snowdonia. Sleeps up to 4

This charming, stone-built Victorian cottage sits near the heart of the historic mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, deep in the Snowdonia National Park, with stunning views of the Moelwyn mountains from the rear of the property. Blaenau offers a wide range of shops, eateries and bars all within easy walking distance for you to stock up or enjoy a meal or drink out. Providing an idyllic base for exploring the wild landscapes of North Wales, Trigfa offers a superb escape for families and groups at any time of year. Upon arrival, step through the front door and discover the spacious lounge and dining area with a character slate inglenook fireplace with the modern convenience of an electric log burner and a Smart TV, a homely atmosphere where you can relax after a long day of adventure. Move downstairs to the kitchen, situated on the lower ground floor, where there is further seating for dining and access to a large bathroom and a back garden with panoramic mountain views and a picnic table and barbecue available for your use. As you look to settle down for the night, there are two charming bedrooms, including the master with double bed and en-suite shower room, and a cosy room with bunk beds and far-reaching mountain views. When you’re ready to explore, Snowdonia is a hiker’s paradise, with many hiking trails available right from the doorstep, from easy to very challenging! For beachgoers, there is a choice of two spectacular coastlines, both a short drive away – to the north (Conway, Llandudno, Anglesey) and to the south & west (Harlech, Black Rock Sands and the Llyn Peninsula). For those seeking adventure you’ll be spoilt for choice with plenty of activities available close by in Blaenau, including the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, Zip World Titan, Zip World Caverns, Bounce Below (deep mine zip wires and the largest underground system of trampolines in the world!) and even underground crazy golf. Antur Stiniog, also in Blaenau, have a range of world class downhill BMX runs for the truly fearless with uplifts available to take the strain! For those with their own bikes, there is a secure garden shed available in Trigfa’s rear garden. To explore the area in a more leisurely fashion, treat yourself to a trip on Ffestiniog Railway - the original railway taking slate from the quarries to Portmadoc, an outstanding mountain journey with truly spectacular views - or visit Portmeirion, an Italianate village famous for its architecture. Alternatively, explore one of the many local historic castles at Harlech, Caernarfon, Conwy and many others.
