Overseeing the bay of Ness Harbour, upon arrival you are greeted by a cottage that won the 2012 Self Build Design Award; when you enter into the open-plan living space it is easy to see why. Airy and spacious, with quirky floor-length windows and a woodburning stove to fight off the Hebridean chill, you are invited to lounge upon the leather sofas and take in the magnificent view visible through a large wall-length windows, allowing the wild scenery to melt into the homely cottage theme with a contemporary twist, and when in need of a snack or preparing a romantic meal together, utilise the fully equipped kitchen space and serve up your perfect breakfast on the dining table with a view to the bay. Blue décor and bedding enhance the feel of the seaside in the comfortable king-size bedroom, with storage, wooden floors and even a pair of binoculars to see exceptional wildlife and freshen up in the stylish tiled en-suite shower room. Outside there is a decking area with furniture you can enjoy an evening hot chocolate as you watch the sun set and reflect upon your day; the glass sliding doors of the living space open up to the garden. One of the greatest aspects of this area is the multitude of stunning beaches, including Ness Harbour just a short walk away, or you can seek out the more well-known Ness and Eoropie, perfect for watersports, wild-swimming and romantic evening walks with your significant other. Local craft can be found in potteries and small galleries, with several local cafes just a short walk from the house, including Café Sonas, Wobbly dog of Lewis and The Breakwater. As seen across the island as a whole, wildlife being plentiful is a wonderful feature of this area, with an abundance of nesting birds including gannets, or you can visit Loch Stiapabhat Nature Reserve to explore the wildlife further whilst enjoying a countryside hike. To lose yourself in the rich history of the area, visit the Butt of Lewis and the accompanying lighthouse to see some of the oldest rock formations in Europe and the historical landmark of Dùn Èistean. When you need to stock up on supplies, visit Borve mini market which is 9.5 miles, or at Stornoway there is a Tesco and a larger selection of bars and restaurants. Get the ferry from Ullapool to Stornoway or get the ferry to Stornoway to reach this property.
