Dog friendly Idyllic retreat -close to Blenheim, The Cotswolds & Oxford ★, Witney

Oxfordshire. Sleeps up to 2

In an area of outstanding beauty, Masons Cottage overlooks a large country garden which is shared with the owners. There is a large en suite bedroom with a king size bed, sitting room and kitchen.

The cottage is attached to the main house, but is totally self-contained. There is onsite parking and fast broadband.

We provide a complimentary welcome pack, including eggs from our free range chickens and honey from the garden apiary.

The space
In an area of outstanding beauty, Masons Cottage was built of Cotswold stone in the 1800s and overlooks the garden. This was designed by a professor of tree management at Oxford University, so is planted with many unusual trees. The garden is shared with the owners, but being approximately 1.5 acres, there should be a quiet spot to sit and relax. Adjacent to the garden is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) which in the spring and early summer has orchids. You are very welcome to walk through this field during the summer months, when there are no sheep grazing.

The fully equipped kitchen has a Neff electric oven, microwave, fridge with a small freezer compartment, dishwasher and a washer dryer. The flooring in the cottage is either stone or parquet wood flooring with loose rugs, and a painted wooden floor in the bedroom.

The bedding is all organic cotton. The duvet and pillows are sheeps wool from Devon Duvet and there is a very comfortable Herdysleep mattress. The cottage has local art on the walls, and local pottery in the kitchen.

The garden, and approach to the cottage, is typical Cotswold rolling countryside, and the private car parking is approximately 50 meters from the cottage. We have two friendly lively dogs that might greet you.

Electricity sockets are available for guests to use if you have an electric car. They are just normal electric plugs so you would need an EV adapter.

One well-behaved dog (small/medium breed) is welcome from January to mid-August only, as there will be no sheep in the adjoining field. The garden is not totally dog proof and we have free range chickens roaming so ask that dogs are kept on a lead in the garden when the chickens are out from 11am - 3pm. We charge an extra £15 per stay for the additional cleaning and ask if you can please keep dogs from going upstairs or on any furniture in the cottage. If you wish to bring your dog, to explore the many local walks and dog friendly pubs and cafes, please let us know at the time of booking.

If you require non-dairy “milk” or honey then please let us know in advance of your arrival.

We know the area well and you will find details of local walks, pubs, cafes and other interesting places in the cottage.

Located in Witney, this cottage is in a rural area. Cotswolds and Eynsham Park reflect the area's natural beauty and area attractions include Crocodiles of the World and Oxford Ice Rink.
