The Secret Garden is a lovely garden apartment with its own private courtyard garden, situated in the town of Ayr and only a short stroll away from the beautiful sand beach and promenade. It is located on the beautiful Ayrshire coastal path with its stunning backdrop of the ever-changing profile of the mountains of Arran. This coastline is steeped in history, and has many well-known links golf courses including Turnberry, Old Prestwick, Royal Troon, and a multitude of others including the beautiful Belleisle and Seafield courses within 1½ miles.
This is, of course, in the heart of Burns Country with the Old Brig o’Doon, Rabbie Burns birthplace and visitors centre. There are many pretty harbour villages such as Dunure and Maidens just a short drive along the coastal route which takes you over ’The Electric Brae’ and on to Culzean Castle, which hosts beautiful grounds, restaurants and visitors centre as well as overlooking the Firth of Clyde from its cliff top location. Also nearby are the parks of Rozelle and Belleisle and the 18th-century Dumfries House set in a 2000-acre site with stunning walks throughout the grounds. Galloway Forest Park is within easy reach and is Britain’s largest forest park and boasts tranquil valleys, rugged rock face, lochs, waterfalls, and ancient woodland with an assortment of wildlife including a red deer observation area.
The lovely seaside towns of Prestwick and Troon are close by and both have many independent shops and eateries. There is a bus and rail link to the west coast and Glasgow with trains running every 30 minutes or so. The stunning Isle of Arran can be accessed by ferry from the port of Ardrossan and day trips can also be taken to the Isle of Cumbrae & Isle of Bute. The enigmatic Alisa Craig, sanctuary to all kinds of seabirds including puffins, kittiwakes and gannets can be visited by local boat tours from the town of Girvan. Beach 1 mile.
