Alford is a country town happily nestled in rural Aberdeenshire with a peaceful and tranquil feel to it. Skirted by the beautiful River Don and surrounded by the hills of Bennachie and Coreen, the area is a great place to relax from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There are lots to do in this town, fishing golf, and the local ski slope, (licence for fishing direct to owner at a surcharge), Alford Heritage Centre is an extraordinary collection of objects, books, and images housed in the old auction mart while Grampian Transport Museum is a treasure house of transport history displaying working exhibits and DVD presentations illustrating the history of travel and transport in North East Scotland.
Attractions near Alford include the Alford Valley Narrow Gauge Railway and the number of magnificent castles in the area such as the ruins of Kildrummy Castle Craigievar Castle and Castle Fraser with its impressive gardens. Across the area are an abundance of restaurants, pubs, and shops to make sure both your cupboards and stomachs are full!
