This split-level holiday cottage is a fantastic base to explore all the delights of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You’ll love all the period features which include exposed stonework, beams, flagstone floors, inglenook fire, and fine period doors throughout the property. The entrance snug provides a quiet seating area to reflect on your day’s activities or get ready for a day of exploring. The traditional shaker-style kitchen provides you with the tools to prepare lovely meals for your guests and just a few steps up take you to the large living and dining room where you can enjoy warming up in front of the log burner, curling up to watch a good film or getting competitive with a family game. The main bedroom is a real treat, a large 4-poster super king bed is the fabulous focal point with an ensuite providing both a separate bath and shower cubicle. The other two rooms; a double and a twin, are up a separate short flight of stairs from the living room. You can access the raised private terrace; which is a great sun trap, from the patio doors from the living room and the utility room up a flight of steps. Ellen Cottage has been finished to a superb standard with a real eye for detail and makes an ideal stay for couples, families, and friends.
Fancy a night off cooking? You’ll be welcomed at the local pub just a short walk from the cottage where you can enjoy home-cooked meals. The village also boasts a convenience store but for more local facilities, boutique shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, and tea rooms, head to the medieval market town of Burford, just a 10-minute walk. A visit to Burford Garden Centre is well worth it and for a family day out, Cotswold Wildlife Park is a must with a variety of animals occupying beautiful grounds and gardens. There are many other villages to discover in the Cotswolds including Bourton on the Water with many visitor attractions, Stow on the Wold, Chipping Norton, and Moreton in Marsh all with their unique character and an array of independent boutiques and eateries. The city of Cheltenham, home of the famous horse racing festival is twenty-three miles and historic Oxford is twenty-one miles. The Charlbury station is eight miles where you can catch the train to London Paddington.
