Bush of Craigs - a house that sleeps 9 guests in 4 bedrooms, Dumfries

Dumfries and Galloway. Sleeps up to 10

Bush of Craigs is a spacious family holiday home perfect for extended families and groups looking for a peaceful holiday in Scotland's stunning countryside, the large farmhouse in it’s own grounds with views over the rolling Dumfriesshire landscape and is perfect for a get together with family and friends. The house is close to Dumfries, capital of South West Scotland and the history of Robert Bruce and Rabbie Burns can be explored together with all that the area has to offer such as Caerlaverock Castle and Caerlaverock Estate home to the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, Caerlaverock National Nature Reserve.

Bush of Craigs has large rooms making it a spacious holiday base from which Scotland’s rich history can be fully explored in Dumfries and the surrounding area with sites connected to Robert the Bruce and Robert Burns with one of his houses and his farm, Ellisland just 5 miles to the north at Holywood. Drumlanrig Castle is just a bit further north at Thornhill on the road towards Ayr.

Dumfries has more recent literary connections through J.M. Barrie. The gardens of Moat Brae House were ‘enchanted lands’ to him which inspired the world of Peter Pan. Moat Brae is now an excellent visitor centre open to the public to inspire the Peter Pan in everyone (you are never too old to be enchanted). Dumfries also has a full range of shops, restaurants and cafes to enjoy light refreshment after exploring the town.

The area has opportunities for all sorts of outdoor pursuits both along the shores of the Solway Firth and inland with the peaceful forests and spectacular hills. There is easy access to the Mabie Forest paths and Mountain Bike Trails and the area has excellent salmon fishing on the river Nith, wildfowl on Solway Firth and excellent golf courses at Dumfries and slightly further afield to the links championship course at Southerness.
