The property is less than 1/2 mile away from the Gills Bay ferry and on the bus route which has a regular service to Kirkwall and Stromness. The village of St Margarets Hope has shops, pubs, post office, fish and chip van and a coffeehoose that sells local crafts and Orkney produce. There is a 9 hole golf course, tennis court , bowling green, 2 play parks and a fitness suite all within walking distance of The Noust. There are some lovely beaches and cliff side walks nearby. On the slip outside the door of The Noust there can quite regularly be seals lying.

Located in St. Margaret's Hope, this cottage is on the waterfront. Banks Chambered Tomb and Hackness Martello Tower are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Orkney Wine Company and Scapa Distillery.
