Holiday in style at this carefully renovated and modernised historic mansion house which is superbly suited for family holidays or occasions be it wedding parties or to celebrate a special birthday. The renovation and modernisation has retained all the original character and is now luxuriously finished to ensure an enjoyable holiday whether for a short break or longer and is a superb base for a family holiday and ideal touring location.

Castle Douglas is an attractive and busy Market Town with an excellent range of shops to suit all tastes; in particular it has many restaurants, Deli's and Cafes resulting in it being hailed as a culinary centre of excellence in Southern Scotland. The town nestles within the picturesque and peaceful Galloway countryside and the local area is recognised as being of outstanding natural beauty.

The local Hills are popular with walkers and cyclists with varied routes suitable for all abilities. The Southern Upland Way long distance walk is near by running from Portpatrick in the west through to Cockburnspath, whilst the total length extends to 212 miles for committed walkers it is possible to select day walks based on a part of the route.

There are nature reserves close including Rough Island at Kippford which is accessed by a tidal causeway and Castramont Wood which is superb for Bluebells in the spring. Outdoor activities include water sports on the Solway Firth and inland at Loch Ken, horse riding, quad biking and golf are all available locally, as is the popular 7Stanes Trails offering world class mountain biking. Rod hire is available in the town and fishing is available on Carlingwark Loch on the southern edge of the town.

The historic cities of Edinburgh and Carlisle, along with cosmopolitan Glasgow, are all within easy reach for enjoyable day trips. The castles and abbeys in the Scottish Borders are also easily accessible, as is the whole of Dumfries and Galloway with its dramatic coastline, unspoilt villages and local produce.

Accommodation for 14 on three floors: Please note that throughout the winter of 2022/3 extensive works will be carried out to provide a new open plan kitchen/Dining area with bifold doors to a newly created substantial patio area, an enlarged living room and a newly created ground floor cloakroom. At the present time the accommodation comprises of;

This cottage is located in Castle Douglas. 7stanes - Dalbeattie and Colvend Golf Club are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those wishing to experience the area's natural beauty can explore Threave Garden and Lock Ken. Galloway Activity Centre and Cally Gardens are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.
