About the property

Set on a working farm with over 250 acres of land, Curious Calf offers a peaceful escape for two, far away from the everyday. The shepherd's hut is adorned with panoramic views, an eco-friendly living space (both inside and out) and a private wood-fired hot tub, fed with water from the farm's spring. Take refreshing walks through the grounds, watch the calves graze in the neighbouring apple orchard and reconnect with nature on your luxury escape.

If you love the sound of this place but need more bedrooms, the shepherd's hut can be booked as a combination of two or a collection of three with Powk Meadow Farmhouse and Big Sky Hideaway via our Guest Services team.

The space

When sustainability meets luxurious living; Curious Calf has been lovingly hand-crafted with 100% recycled materials from the owners' farm. It enjoys agricultural artwork, reclaimed wood throughout and vibrant pops of colour to complement the rustic interiors.

The shepherd's hut begins with an outdoor living/dining space, well equipped with everything you need to fully immerse yourself in nature. Relax in the wood-fired hot tub, sip a crisp glass of wine from the wine cooler and whip up a homemade pizza using the one-pot oven. If the temperature starts to drop, get cosy under the wooden canopy, and admire the exceptionally starry skies.

As you step inside the shepherd's hut through the rustic patio doors, you are greeted by an open-plan space with a quaint kitchen. There is an electric hob, a fridge, a kettle and a selection of utensils and crockery. The property offers ample comfort, with Welsh wool insulation and a wood-burning stove, perfect for wiggling your toes in front of after a crisp walk through the countryside.

Rearing off the kitchen is a small WC with a shower, eco-friendly toiletries and fluffy towels.

The double bed sits on a recycled wooden frame, dressed in soft linen sheets and colourful cushions. Look beyond the bedside window and enjoy panoramic views from the minute you wake up to the minute you go to sleep.

Sustainability

The eco-friendly hot tub is powered by sustainable wood and uses spring water sourced on-site; the water is then recycled back to the land. In addition, rainwater is used for the farm animals to drink. There is no single-use plastic, only refillable and eco-cleaning products are used. The farm also commits to the conservation of wildlife habitats.

If you would like to offset the carbon emissions from your trip, get in touch and we can arrange this for a small fee.
