Region: Equally as charming as East Yorkshire, West Yorkshire benefits from its close proximity to the surrounding regions of the Peak District to the south and the Yorkshire Dales to the north. From stately homes, to historic museums, West Yorkshire provides a wealth of culture, including the family home of the famous Brontë sisters, Parsonage Museum. Surrounded by open moorlands, cobbled streets and acres worth of countryside, West Yorkshire is an exceptional base for that rural break.

Town: The thriving market town of Thorne sits in South Yorkshire, located on the Humber Estuary plains halfway between Goole and Doncaster. Thorne contains a selection of businesses, tea rooms, and bars, as well as a regular farmer's market. Explore the vast canal walkways and the Peatlands Way, a convoluted walk over the wildlife regions of Thorne and Hatfield Moors that passes to the north of the town. Bunting's Wood is a communal forest area that was built from agricultural land and is well worth investigating. There is easy access to York to the north, Doncaster to the south-west, and East Yorkshire's coastal resorts of Bridlington and Hornsea to the east, thanks to good surrounding road links. All year round, this is an excellent base for holidaying in Yorkshire!

Located in Doncaster, this cottage is in a rural area and on a river. Mansion House and Cusworth Hall are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Kingswood Golf Centre and Goffs UK. Traveling with kids? Consider Thorne and Hatfield Moors and Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Discover the area's water adventures with fishing nearby, or enjoy the great outdoors with horse riding, hiking, and rock climbing.
