You’ll receive the friendliest of welcomes on the community-owned Hebridean Island of Gigha where The Byre sits between two beautiful bays with silver sands and turquoise waters. It’s a thoughtfully renovated farm building forming part of a group of terraced holiday cottages, offering privacy yet conveniently close to the quiet and tiny community of Ardminish. The Byre is somewhere you’ll want to return year after year! A very attractive conversion, The Steadings has been renovated in a contemporary style both inside and out, with unusual red corrugated roofs and exterior walls incorporating both stone and timber. Inside, The Byre retains many of the original building features such as coombed ceilings and deep window sills. The ground floor houses the cosy living room which is warmed by a welcoming wood burner. There is a convenient twin bedroom and family bathroom on the ground floor and stairs leading upstairs to two lovely spacious double bedrooms, one with en-suite shower room and another double bedroom. Outside, there is garden furniture to sit on and enjoy views over the stunning landscape towards Ardminish Bay and listen to the sounds of nature all around.
The Isle of Gigha is the most southerly and one of the most beautiful of the Hebridean Islands. It has beautiful gardens to explore, and is a place that you will remember forever! Gigha is the most breathtaking island with its silver beaches, beautiful bays, clear green seas, stunning views and amazing sunsets, lochs and gently sloping hillsides, as well as a plentiful variety of wildlife and birdlife. Being relatively flat, it is ideal for walking and cycling, and the Gigha Path network offers plenty of opportunities to choose from.
The Steadings is about one mile from Ardminish, the main hub of the island, with its hotel, post office and grocery store, beachside bar/restaurant, craft shop and art gallery. There is an activity centre near the ferry terminal where you can hire boats, kayaks and wetsuits. Bike hire is also available and there is sea fishing on your doorstep; golfers can enjoy a 9-hole golf course with the most fantastic Atlantic views. There are many archaeological and historic sites to explore, as well as the ever-changing Achamore Gardens which benefit from Gigha being low lying and having a climate which is drier and warmer than other places on the west coast of Scotland. Seven miles long by a mile and a half wide, Gigha is situated 3 miles west of the Kintyre peninsula, less than three hours’ drive from Glasgow and just a short 20-minute ferry journey from the mainland. The mainland ferry terminal is at Tayinloan, just 25 minutes’ drive from Tarbert. Should you be tempted to leave the island during your holiday, it is convenient for exploring the beautiful Kintyre peninsula, where there are many beautiful beaches and coastal walks with stunning views over the Atlantic. The fishing and yachting town of Tarbert has plentiful shops, restaurants, pubs and attractions. A 30-minute drive towards Campbeltown gives you access to three of Scotland’s best golf courses, and it has a cinema, leisure centre and several renowned whisky distilleries. Beach ½ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
The Byre can be booked together with The Barn UK33396) and THe Stable (UK33400) to accommodate up to 12 guests.

Located in Isle of Gigha, this cottage is in a rural area and on a river. Coastal Design and Campbeltown Heritage Centre are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Beinn an Tuirc Distillers and Carradale Golf Club. Take an opportunity to explore the area for water adventures such as fishing and other activities like golfing.
