Situated on the east side of the river Cree, the cottage has excellent opportunities for woodland and hill walking, plus cycling almost on the doorstep. With its sheltered, private garden it is conveniently located within walking distance of the centre of Newton Stewart which provides a variety of hotels, cafes and shops.
There is also a popular hotel with restaurant within a three minute walk of the cottage.
Galloway Forest Park (designated Britain's first Dark Skies Park) is located nearby offering unsurpassed star gazing opportunities and one of the stages of the 7Stanes mountain bike network is within a five minute drive of the cottage. Minnigaff has an excellent 18 hole golf course and other sporting facilities, including game, coarse and sea fishing, are all available nearby.

Torhouse Stone Circle and Cairn Holy Chambered Cairn are local landmarks, and the area's natural beauty can be seen at Clatteringshaws Loch and Galloway Forest Park. Laggan Outdoor and Cally Gardens are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.
