Town: A beautiful, scenic village in West Yorkshire's Colne Valley. Marsden is a historic mill community with charming stone buildings, spectacular scenery, and a lovely canal that houses the only professional theatre group that tours by Narrowboat. Marsden is home to award-winning restaurants, historic taverns, and the National Trust-owned Marsden Moor, which has been featured in television productions such as "Last of the Summer Wine" and "The League of Gentleman." Throughout the year, the hamlet holds a number of festivals and events, notably the Marsden Jazz Festival in October. Marsden is well-known among walkers, and in 2010 it was granted Walkers are Welcome status. The Peak District National Park is only a short drive away, and the community is well worth a visit for nature enthusiasts. Huddersfield is a short drive away, and it's a lovely city. Manchester is also close by, and it's a different, busier excursion that's great for shopping.

Colne Valley Museum and Saddleworth Museum are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Saddleworth Golf Club and Magic Rock Brewing Co. Ltd. LaserZone and Stonerig Raceway are also worth visiting. Practice your golf swing on a nearby course, or enjoy other activities in the great outdoors, such as rock climbing, hiking/biking trails, and cycling in the area.
