Town: A beautiful, scenic village in West Yorkshire's Colne Valley. Marsden is a historic mill community with charming stone buildings, spectacular scenery, and a lovely canal that houses the only professional theatre group that tours by Narrowboat. Marsden is home to award-winning restaurants, historic taverns, and the National Trust-owned Marsden Moor, which has been featured in television productions such as "Last of the Summer Wine" and "The League of Gentleman." Throughout the year, the hamlet holds a number of festivals and events, notably the Marsden Jazz Festival in October. Marsden is well-known among walkers, and in 2010 it was granted Walkers are Welcome status. The Peak District National Park is only a short drive away, and the community is well worth a visit for nature enthusiasts. Huddersfield is a short drive away, and it's a lovely city. Manchester is also close by, and it's a different, busier excursion that's great for shopping.
