The town of Newton Stewart is only a mile away with shops, restaurants and cafés, and there are many other towns within easy reach, such as Castle Douglas, the food town, Gatehouse of Fleet, and Kirkcudbright. Gatehouse of Fleet offers a wider range of places where you an eat and drink, and there are many attractions in and around the town including the Mill on the Fleet Visitor Centre and Cardoness Castle. Kirkcudbright, known as ‘the artists’ town’, attracts visitors throughout the year drawn by the harbour, the historic high street and the diverse range of annual events and visitor attractions. The popular programme of summer festivities culminates with the spectacular Tattoo, an event not to be missed.
West Lodge is situated at the gateway to The Galloway Forest Park, Britain’s largest forest park with three hundred square miles of wild beauty waiting to be explored. The park boasts tranquil valleys, rugged rock faces, forest, moorland, lochs and ancient woodland and a huge diversity of wildlife including red and roe deer, wild goats and many birds of prey.

Located in Newton Stewart, this cottage is in a rural area and on a river. Torhouse Stone Circle and Cairn Holy Chambered Cairn are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at 7stanes - Kirroughtree and 7stanes - Glentrool. Laggan Outdoor and Cally Gardens are also worth visiting. Take an opportunity to explore the area for water adventures such as fishing and other activities like golfing.
