Region: Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian’s Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

Town: Amble, a busy little seaport at the mouth of the River Coquet, is an excellent base from which to explore Northumberland. A marina, harbour, sandy beaches, and coastal treks to Hauxley Bird Sanctuary and Druridge Bay Country Park may all be found at Amble, which was once a major boatbuilding hub. The harbour wall is lined with large fishing boats that bring in a wide variety of seafood including fish, prawns, crabs, and lobsters. In order to replenish lobster and other shellfish populations, there is a fish market on the harbor's edge that also offers fresh seafood. RSPB reserve Coquet Island is located a mile south of Amble and is home to several species of birds including terns, puffins, and eider ducks. Alnmouth and Craster, as well as a number of excellent beaches, are just a short drive away, as are the attractive towns of Warkworth and Alnwick, each with their own castles and charming, award-winning gardens, and the National Trust properties of Wallington Hall and Cragside.

Located in Morpeth, this cottage is in a rural area and by the sea. Warkworth Castle and Alnwick Castle are local landmarks, and the area's natural beauty can be seen at Northumberland Coast and Queen Elizabeth II Country Park. Lilidorei at The Alnwick Garden and Eshott Heugh Animal Park are also worth visiting. Discover the area's water adventures with fishing nearby, or enjoy the great outdoors with hiking and cycling.
