Nethercott House, Iddesleigh, Near Hatherleigh

Devon. Sleeps up to 47

Nethercott House is a spectacular Victorian house situated in the countryside village of Iddesleigh near Hatherleigh, Devon. It is used in term time by Michael Morpurgo's charity Farms for City Children, but at other times is a magical place for great gatherings of extended family or sociable groups of friends. The accommodation enjoys a games room and rambles over three floors, a wonderful place to completely relax and spend special time together. Head into the large hall and from here you can turn to the sitting room with its toasty wood burning stove. The grand dining room is reminiscent of Harry Potter with its array of tables and chairs and bay windows. Stepping through the home, the kitchen and accompanying pantry are well-equipped for cooking up a feast for the whole group. The children can keep entertained by playing table tennis and table football in the games room. Head on upstairs to eight bedrooms on the first floor, five fabulous dormitory-style bunk rooms (with 2'6" beds) at the front and two twins, plus a further single at the back. On the top floor is a light bright work room leading to a double bedroom. Outside is a glorious amount of space with lawns, a fire pit, two ponds, Dartmoor views and access to two rivers and the Tarka Trail. At the back are traditional farm buildings and a veg garden. You probably won't want to go far from this rural escape, but if you do there's a great pub in the village and lots to explore in the little farming town of Hatherleigh. There are lots of footpaths in the area, including the wonderful Tarka Trail to walk or cycle, or you can fish in the River Torridge. The coast at Bude is a great day trip. Nethercott House is a unique destination for enjoying the company of friends and family in an idyllic setting.
