Nottingham is also nearby and is rich in history and culture; venture to Nottingham Castle, built in 1068 or the Robin Hood Statue, which commemorates the legendary outlaw. The City of Caves, located beneath the city centre, is a labyrinth of man-made caves and tunnels that date back to the Dark Ages and is well worth the visit.
