The sitting room boasts an inviting leather sofa with matching armchairs, the ideal place to relax and unwind during an evening in front of the fire, with a great book from the bookcase or with a film on the TV. The kitchen/diner is well-equipped with all the appliances you could wish for during your self-catered stay, with a dishwasher to take care of any washing up and a washer/dryer, should you need to clean clothes after a day exploring the national park. Head upstairs to catch up on rest in one of two spacious bedrooms; a master double and a twin both offer plenty of storage space for your belongings and share use of the ground-floor shower room, where you can prepare for each day with a refreshing rinse. Make your way to the rear of the property and along a short lane to the enclosed rear garden, accessed up three steps and through a gate, where your children and four-legged friends can run freely as you sit out on the patio with a glass of wine and enjoy the best of the late afternoon sun, while the summerhouse offers additional seating and an electric fire, making it an ideal cosy spot on a cooler evening. Venture into the spa town of Buxton to pick up any essentials from the shops, as well as perusing the galleries and enjoying a coffee and cake break at one of its many cafés. Buxton boasts many attractions that make it a wonderful day out, from the Buxton Museum & Art Gallery, the Edwardian opera house, which hosts theatre and musical performances year-round, and for those seeking adventure, be sure to discover the limestone cave network of Poole's Cavern and try the treetop zip wire course at Go Ape Buxton. Pay a visit to St Anne’s Well and sample Buxton's well-known water, take an afternoon stroll around The Pavilion Gardens and admire an array of fine Georgian architecture that lines the town. Take advantage of your proximity to the Peak District National Park, enjoying walking and cycling trails through spectacular countryside, encompassing attractions like the limestone show caves at Blue John Cavern and the peak of Mam Tor, where hikers are rewarded with panoramic valley views from its peak. The charming villages of Castleton and Matlock Bath are in easy reach, along with the town of Bakewell, known for its iconic pudding, and the stunning estates of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. With so much adventure available from your doorstep, make 16 Smalldale Cottages the base for your next Derbyshire getaway.
