Pretty coastal cottage, Argyll and Bute, Clynder

Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. Sleeps up to 3

Located on the West Coast of Scotland on a winding peninsula dotted with pretty coves to enjoy relaxing walks. Our first floor terrace offers stunning views across the Gareloch and surrounding mountains.
Recently nominated for "Scotland's Greatest Escape" - a BBC awards series that celebrates the country's best holiday accommodation. Gareloch cottage is special all year round and hosts couples and groups of up to 3 people. It's suitable for children 7+ years and is pet friendly for 1 small-medium sized dog.

Our cottage is ideally situated for day trips to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and the Arrochar Mountains. There are many local walking and cycling trails and several National nature reserves. Bike and paddle board hire are also available locally.

We have lovingly refurbished many aspects of the cottage, whilst retaining some of it's original Victorian features and own unique style.

Fully equipped for a self catering break. Guests have use of all the living space, the first floor terrace and the private back garden which attracts the sunshine during the day. Set up with a picnic bench to enjoy al fresco living, with direct access to the back kitchen.

Parking by the side of the house for 1 vehicle.

THE GROUND FLOOR
Open plan living consisting of the living room, snug, bathroom and kitchen.

LIVING ROOM :
A light and relaxing open space , the privet hedge right in front of the lounge windows ensures total privacy for our guests. Stylish furnished with a dedicated dining /workspace for up to 4 people. There's a spacious 3 seater sofa with cosy throws and a Smart TV.

SNUG:
Walking through from the living room into the snug which is furnished with the original Victorian fireplace and small double settee.

BATHROOM:
Leading off from the Snug is the modern downstairs bathroom with a shower bath (and overhead Rainfall shower head) and heated towel rail.

KITCHEN:
Our galley style kitchen has direct views across the private back garden with access via the enclosed porch. Fully equipped with microwave, Lavazza coffee machine, double electric oven, washing machine, American style fridge freezer and dish washer.

OUTDOOR BACK SPACE
There's a small patio set up with a picnic style bench to enjoy al fresco eating and drinking in good weather. Perfect for nipping in and out of the kitchen!
The elevated lawned garden area is accessible up 4 stone steps. Enclosed by shrubbery, it's a little steep and uneven with some stone steps dotted about. You'll see our summer house which is not accessible to guests.

UPPER FLOOR:
The upstairs accommodation is where the property really comes into it's own with a bright upper landing having a door opening out onto the long decked terrace that takes in the magnificent view.

DOUBLE BEDROOM:
Off the landing is the main bedroom with a double bed. The room lets in lots of natural light and has the features of the original Victorian fireplace and wooden window shutters. Set back and on the first floor, it retains full privacy for guests to enjoy the expansive views. It's especially pretty in the evening with twinkly lights on the water and boats gently bobbing on the waves at night.

TERRACE:
Via the main bedroom and landing, there's access to the 18ft terrace which has an enclosed glass balcony and furniture set up for up to 4 people. Guest's also have use of additional outside cushions, throws and a LED lantern for evenings on the terrace.
Enjoy a freshly made coffee sat there first thing in the morning and a chilled glass of wine in the evening, it's just what our guests love doing the most!

SINGLE BEDROOM:
The peaceful second bedroom has a single bed, small side table and light and a clothes rail. It has enviable views across the lush back garden where you can hear the birds singing throughout the day.

+ Both bedrooms have also been fitted with black out roller blinds for night time should you wish to use them.

NEARBY AMENITIES

Around Clynder are several small villages which have a few local cafes, a pub, petrol station and food stores. This includes Kilcreggan, Cove and Garelochhead. The nearest food store is the Co-Op which is just a 10 minute walk from the cottage into Rosneath and is open 7 days a week.

The Perch cafe in Garelochhead is open Wednesday - Sundays, and serves delicious homemade pizza takeaways on a Friday evening. It's also great for morning coffee and brunches.

DAYS OUT
There's endless outdoor activities to enjoy including pony trekking, canoeing, fishing, golf, mountaineering and wild swimming.

Day trips from the house include Balloch Castle and Country Park with fantastic views over Loch Lomond. There you'll enjoy the ornamental woodland, open parkland, formal gardens, meadow, play parks and shoreline. In warm weather, enjoy a picnic on Luss beach which is situated by the picturesque village of the same name with spectacular views towards Ben Lomond.

Farm shops local to the cottage include Ardardan Estate on the banks of the River Clyde and Auchentullich Farm shop which make their own ice cream. Both have cafes and shops to discover fresh Scottish produce and home made crafts.

Within an hour's drive of our cottage is the historic town of Stirling, where you can visit it's impressive medieval castle and take in some of the restaurants and a spot of shopping.

The Victorian seaside town of Helensburgh is our nearest local town - about 5 miles from the house. Home to Scotland's only Submarine Museum, the town has a good choice of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and the Tower cinema. The sea front, with it's prominent pier is a great place to take in some sea air. Close by is Rhu Marina on the Firth of Clyde which also offer daily island cruises during summer.

Helensburgh train station has direct routes to Glasgow and Edinburgh. The town is easy to reach by train and car; and is about 40 minutes to Glasgow and the airport.

If you are planning to stay a few days, Oban (with it's world class whisky dispensary) and historical Inverary Castle are both worth a visit.

NOTES:

The house is suitable for children aged 7+ upwards.

ELECTRIC CARS:
There is no home EV charger at the property and guests are not permitted to use our domestic electricity for their car. We would advise guests to download the ChargeplacesScotland app and buy a card in advance of travel so you can arrive with a full charge.

Located in Helensburgh, this cottage is in a rural area and on the waterfront. Hill House and Maid of the Loch are local landmarks, and some of the area's attractions include Geilston Garden and Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre. SEA LIFE Loch Lomond Aquarium and Quadmania are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.
