The Lodge, Pontyates

Dyfed. Sleeps up to 4

Pontyates 2.6 miles. Nestled in the charming hamlet of Five Roads near Pontyates, home to two traditional pubs, is this delightful Lodge set on a 40 acre farm. Boasting remarkable views of the rolling countryside, as well-as a luxurious hot tub for a soak under the stars, this welcoming abode is the idyllic location for a group of four friends looking to get away from it all or a family holiday. Be greeted by ample off-road parking, leave your vehicle to take in the quaint surroundings with refreshing, earthy air. For those wanting a more energetic time the Carmarthenshire footpath network runs through the farm and the renowned Swiss Valley Cycle Path is just 900 metres away. Take a few steps up to the lodge to discover the lovely open-plan living space; here you can unwind in the sitting area on the sumptuous sofa as you catch up on some well-earned television. Step over to the compact kitchen area to prepare a heart-warming meal; cook up a storm in the electric oven or take advantage of the microwave for an easy meal. When dinner is served, settle down at the wooden dining table, break open a bottle of wine and toast to your rural retreat. For an alternative dining arrangement, gather around the outdoor table and BBQ to enjoy a tasty dish, al fresco-style, before taking a leisurely dip in the hot tub. As the evening draws to a close, head back inside to the warmth, and rinse off in the shower room to prepare for a night's embrace. Choose between two pretty bedrooms, a king-size with a handy en-suite WC and a twin. Wake-up with a steaming cup of coffee in the garden to begin your day with handsome views of luscious greenery. Lodge is an excellent base for exploring, visit the cascading Trimsaran waterfall, stroll around the loop of Swiss Valley (lower) Reservoir, or be amazed by the medieval remains of Kidwelly Castle/Castell Cydweli, which dates back to the 12th century. Take a short drive into the wonderful Country Park and Beach at Pembrey or head off to Ffos Las Racecoure. Travel a little further afield to the market town of Llanelli or to The National Botanic Garden of Wales, for an engrossing walk around the gardens, which is also home to a tropical butterfly house, as well as cycling along the South coast at The Millennium Coastal Path, offering amazing sights of the sea. You can also spend time at The Wetlands then enjoy a sumptuous afternoon tea at Lanelly House. Settled near the River Towy, is the county town of Carmarthen, home to a 12th century castle, Gwili Steam Railway for a scenic ride through Wales and Oriel Myrddin Gallery to view contemporary art and culture. For a relaxing escape with your friends or family stay at The Lodge.
