River View, Inverness

Morayshire. Sleeps up to 2

Tucked away in Scotland’s ‘Highland Capital’ of Inverness, is this superb second-floor apartment, River View, on the banks of the Ness River, at the end of the historic Grieg Street Bridge. There are numerous restaurants close by and the city centre is only a short walk away from the city centre, bus and train stations. Flat 10 is in the former Bell Tower which was originally built as the West Parish church in 1839, and its conversion still retains many of its original features, such as the solid old beams and a vaulted ceiling; resulting in a light and airy living space which seems to float above the water. Inverness is a great centre from which to explore Northern Scotland, it is within easy reach of the Loch Ness, the Caledonian Canal, Culloden Battlefield, the beaches and golf courses of the East, the beaches and golf courses of the East, the spectacular Highland scenery of Glen Affric, and a host of activities in Cairngorms National Park. The countryside is varied, from the fertile, rolling farmland of the coast to inland moorlands, lochs and rugged mountains; this unspoilt landscape provides a haven for many species of wildlife from red deer and squirrels to the dolphins at Chanonry Point and rare birds such as the Slavonian Grebe. There are ideas in the Guest Information pack, and the owner likes to make suggestions for your particular interests based on her extensive knowledge, derived from 40 years of living in this area. There is free parking on a first come on first save basis at the front of the building and convenient permit parking on the street right alongside. The property truly has the wow factor, which guests will notice as they enter the main room and look out of the floor-length window at the glorious views of the bridge and river; both resting just a stone’s throw away! Once settled in, pull forward a chair, and watch for a seal chasing salmon upriver, and enjoy the throng of people crossing the Victorian bridge, or sit back on the sofa with a glass of fizz, catching up on your favourite show on the TV. There are several highly regarded restaurants close by, as well as a supermarket, hot food takeaways, a pharmacist and a newsagent. You may prefer to prepare delicious home-cooked meals in the well-equipped kitchen with the handy dishwasher and settle down to enjoy a romantic meal at the dining table as you raise a toast to a relaxing getaway whilst watching the river flow past. Set out for the day and head into the bustling city of Inverness, where you will be spoilt for choice for things to do! Or venture up-river to the walking trails on the Ness Islands, passing numerous restaurants and the Eden Court Theatre. Venture to the well-known Inverness Castle which overlooks the River Ness, where you can visit The Castle Viewpoint attraction to experience breath-taking panoramic views of the city and its surrounding areas. Check out art galleries and shops with local produce. Keen fishermen can purchase a permit to fish for salmon on the River Ness from February to mid-October. Golfers are spoilt for choice with two courses in Inverness, and nearby Castle Stuart, Fort Augustus, Aigas, Boat of Garten and Dornoch. Just a short drive away is the legendary Loch Ness, with a variety of boat trips, where you can enjoy captivating scenery whilst trying to spot the legendary monster lurking in the depths. Travel the short distance to the North Kessock, where you can enjoy gorgeous views along the North Kessock Community Pier and stop for a sweet treat at White Cottage Tea Room whilst you watch the world go by. River View is a home-away-from-home where you can enjoy making long-lasting memories with your loved ones. EPC Rating: Band C
